This is a two-part course - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Become a better public speaker and get really good at demonstrating skills.

During the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program you will complete the independent learning sections online through PADI E-Learning, or participate in curriculum sections during the OWSI program in the classroom: You will understand how the complete PADI System of Education works. You will also present further knowledge development teaching presentations, in the classroom, confined water and open water from the PADI diver programs. Very similar to what you would have completed on your AI, assistant Instructor course.  You will also take the instructor dive theory exam's. (similar to the older Divemaster theory exam's). There is a rescue assessment, a skills circuit covering all the open water diver skills, and also a stamina exercise to complete. Throughout the OWSI program you will be assessed in readiness to sit the Instructor Examination (I.E.) with PADI. On successful completion of the I.E. you will be qualified to teach all the Core PADI programs anywhere in the world.

To qualify for training as a PADI Open Water Instructor, you must

  • PADI Assistant Instructor certification or
  • be an instructor in good standing with another training organization for at least six months
  • (check with a PADI Course Director or PADI Office for qualifying credentials.)
  • Hold a dive certification for at least six months
  • Have 60 logged dives that include night, deep and navigation dives
  • Have completed a Primary Care (CPR and Secondary Care (First Aid) Course within last 24 months
  • Medical clearance signed by a physician
  • Have EFR Instructor Rating - We can teach this too
